😄 Kindness at JMS!😄 The following messages come straight from the hearts of our JMS students, sharing kind words and appreciation for a special staff member. 😄✨ Kindness goes a long way, and we love seeing our students lift up those who make a difference every day! "I would like to shout out Ms Bray the 8.4 language arts teacher, she is always trying to find a way to help and is so incredibly kind. -Olivia Hagans "I’m not sure if a student can do this, but i’m doing this for a bus driver. Her name is “Ms. Juanita”, route 16. Dear, Ms. Juanita, you have changed my life for the better, you are an amazing person. I thank you for everything you have done for me, especially the friendships. You drove serenity, and tyree to me, helping me gain friends. At the beginning of the year i didn’t think that we would’ve been so close.. i was wrong, and i’m thankful i was wrong. I also didn’t think i was going to have so many friends. So i thank you for helping me gain some. I know we might give you a hard time, but we all love you." -Elizabeth Looney

💖Spreading Kindness at JMS! 💖 The following messages come straight from the hearts of our JMS students, sharing kind words and appreciation for a special staff member. 💖✨ Kindness goes a long way, and we love seeing our students lift up those who make a difference every day! "My name is landree rivera and I'm in 7.1 and I want to shout out Kaden Decamp he is always here for my questions and he and me always have great conversations about not just math." "This is a shout out to Mr. Joshua Brown (the vocal music director). Mr. Brown goes above and beyond in his job, but He makes it more than that. Because of him, vocal music has become a family. He brings so much energy into class each day. I'm in 7th hour vocal, and we often joke that we just have to make it past 6th hour till the end of the day, since we love vocal class so much. Mr. Brown tries so hard for us to succeed, and sacrifices hours outside of school to make that happen. We love you Mr. Brown!!!!" -Clara Ford

Seventh-grade science students on team 7-4 conducted a muscle fatigue lab to observe how muscles tire and how it relates to their new unit-- Cellular Respiration. Students measured the number of times they could squeeze a test tube holder over different time periods (15 seconds, 30, seconds, 60 seconds and 120 seconds). As time increased, it became more difficult to squeeze the test tube. This is because the body struggles to make enough energy (ATP) through the process of Cellular Respiration. Despite the sore muscles, students had a good time and had a great introduction to their new unit! :)

Students in Mrs. Swift's 7-4 science class began an experiment this week to study how different light colors affect plant growth. After researching how plant cells absorb light through chlorophyll, they planted four radish seeds per pot and placed them in light boxes with green, blue, red, white, or no light. Just one week in, the seeds have started to germinate, and students recorded their first set of data on Thursday. They will continue watering the plants daily and collecting data weekly over the next few weeks to a month. We can't wait to share their findings when the experiment is complete!
