⭐️ Our leader! ⭐️

Earlier this semester, Team 7-2 Science (Nolte) students partnered with Health & Wellness (Taylor) students to conduct a school-wide trash audit—sorting and weighing recycling and lunch trash, and leading a student survey on waste habits. Our goal? To find out what we're doing well and how we can do even better with trash management at school.
Using the data we collected and the creative ideas that followed, a group of students helped write and submit a proposal for the EcoRise Student Innovation Grant—and we’re proud to announce that our project was fully funded! 🎉 We're planning to use the money to:
* Install clearly labeled recycling bins in the cafeteria
*Launch a student-led poster campaign to raise awareness
*Start small-scale composting to turn food waste into garden gold
This project gave students a real-world experience of applying science to solve problems, turning data into action, and seeing their ideas come to life. A shout-out to everyone involved, and huge thanks to Ecorise for funding our green initiative!

School Spirit was on FULL BLAST today! Pep Rally Post # 1
Our pep rally brought the heat, the hype, and the heart—what an incredible way to show off our school pride! From the cheerleaders, Pom, and band firing up the crowd to the epic games, team recognitions, and teacher moments, the energy in the gym was unmatched.
Whether you were dancing in the bleachers or shouting at the top of your lungs, YOU made today unforgettable. Go JMS!

📣PEP RALLY HIGHLIGHT 📣
Who says cheer jumps are just for students? Our amazing teachers brought the spirit and height to the floor during the Cheer Jump Contest!
From toe touches to impressive attempts, the energy was off the charts and the crowd LOVED it. Lead by two impressive cheer leaders, they learned a toe-touch, hurdler, and pike.
Shoutout to all the teachers who jumped in (literally) and showed off their school spirit—whether they stuck the landing or not! Mr Ratliff, Mrs. Blackshare, Mr Demuth, Ms. Heinrichs,
Ms Kolar, Mrs Toy, and to our two finalists--Ms Orland & Mr Pitchford.
Which teacher surprised you the most?

Mr Arledge, art teacher, and Ms Lyles, library assistant, were honored today as our teacher and support staff of the month. We are lucky to have them both at JMS.

🌍🌱 Earth Day at Jenks Middle School - Team 7-6 in Action! 🌱🌍
Our amazing 7-6 team made a positive impact on Earth Day! 🌻🌿 Students got hands-on, creating beautiful planters filled with vibrant flowers and fresh vegetables. Not only did they learn about sustainability, but they also worked together to help make our world a little greener. 🌎✨
Great job, team! Keep spreading those green thumbs! 💚🌸

JMS is a great place to work! Check out the available positions here: https://www.jenksps.org/o/jenksps/page/why-work-at-jps

📚 One of our favorite literacy support programs is getting ready to fire up its engines again...
The Trojans Read the Way Bookmobile will kick off the summer schedule with the Read Around the Playground🛝event on May 3rd from 2-4 PM. Did you know the bus has books for ALL ages? Our JMS teens can grab middle grade and young adult books each visit.

🌎Happy Earth Day! 🌍 The 7th grade Science teams found creative ways to give back to our planet. Yesterday students planted flowers outside the building, while other students made signs to share about Earth Day. Today students spent the afternoon picking up litter outside the school. It was a great way to enjoy the fresh air, make a difference, and show some love to the Earth!

This past week in Mrs. Swift's 7-4 science classes, students explored the impact of invasive species in Oklahoma. After conducting research on various species, students created Canva posters and presented their findings to the class. From Zebra Mussels to Water Hyacinths, here are just a few of the invasive species we learned about and the presenters who presented them!

Students in Mrs. Gunsaulis’s seventh grade Language Arts classes enjoyed publishing opportunities this week, including an Argument Olympics writing and speech contest as well as writing letters to their legislators after writing their argument essays.📣✍We love hearing student voices!

Mrs. Drouillard's seventh graders are writing odes right now during National Poetry Month. Their topic choices: person (a teacher at JMS), place (JMS),or thing (a class at JMS). Final drafts were written outside with chalk so that people can read them and relate. ✍️☀️🏫
