If you have not done so already, please complete Back to School Registration by this Friday, May 30. All returning students are required to update their information prior to the beginning of the 2025-26 school year. Failure to register your child for the 2025-26 school year could delay schedule pick up, meet the teacher, correct bus stop information and correct school assignment. Students who have been placed on hold due to residence can upload your proof of residence on your child's registration. If you have moved out of district, transfer applications will be available June 1, 2025 and MUST be submitted online. Transfer requests will begin being reviewed on July 7 and parents will be notified by email. All information regarding transfers is on the JPS website under "Enrollment." Go to jenksps.org for step-by-step instructions on completing registration. Thank you!

Is anyone else singing "School's Out for Summer!" by Alice Cooper?
It's been a wonderful year JMS. Stay safe and have a great summer break.

Today was a blast at Jenks Middle School!
Our TSA chapter hosted an epic Super Smash Bros. Tournament in the library as a fundraiser — and the energy was off the charts!
Each hour, competitors battled it out, with the top players advancing to face off in a high-stakes semifinal round. After some intense matches and serious Smash skills, we crowned our Tournament Champion!
Big thanks to everyone who participated, cheered, and supported their fundraiser.

Attention all families! JMS has final exams the last 2 days of school, 519 & 5/20. Here is the daily schedule.

Students in Mrs. Gunsaulis's 7th grade Language Arts classes wrote ode and extended metaphor poems as part of their poetry unit. As part of a poetry cafe experience today, they got to read one of the poems aloud while drinking cafe beverages in our "Starbooks Cafe," while giving Venti compliments to their fellow poets. Such a fun end to our last unit before finals!📚☕✍

🚨 Teamwork. Strategy. Leadership. Escape! 🔐
JMS StuCo just wrapped up an awesome leadership retreat where 21 students put their minds together to crack clues, beat the clock, and escape the rooms! 🧠💥It wasn't just about solving puzzles; it was about building trust, communication, and leadership skills that will guide us into next year!

We love an unintentional "twinning!" 🌻Mrs. Swift and Mrs. Potwora twinning in spring sunflowers!

🏐Who runs the court? 🏐
Today was the ultimate showdown: Middle School Boys vs. Girls Volleyball Game!
It’s all for a great cause — raising funds for our PE program! These kids have skills!
Great job band as well!

Best lunch ever! Thanks PTAG for the teacher appreciation spread! 🌮🌶️🍪

Getting rewarded for returning library books on time? 👍🏽✅
All ELA classes have the opportunity to "win" candy by getting their entire class to remember their library books this week. Mrs. Averitt's 5th hour was one of the firsts to accomplish this goal!

Students in 7-4 Science have been exploring endangered species and the importance of conservation. Today, several students showcased their learning through an open-ended project, where they could select from ten presentation options or create one of their own. The variety of formats—from posters and websites to podcasts, games and even papier-mâché models—highlighted their creativity and dedication. During the presentations, we learned fascinating facts about animals like the Black-Footed Ferret, Telescope Fish, Amazon River Dolphin, Bornean and Sumatran Orangutans, Malayan and Sundra Tigers, Green Sea Turtle, Blue Whale, Whale Shark, Proboscis Monkey, and the Northern White Rhino. It was a meaningful day of learning, with students teaching and inspiring one another through their work. We're super impressed!

💧 We all know about 71% of Earth is covered in water, but did you know that less than 1% of it is fresh and available for us to use? 7th grade science students in Dr. Nolte’s class explored how rare and important this resource is during a special visit from Ms. Cheryl with the Blue Thumb Program!
Cheryl Cheadle, a conservationist dedicated to protecting our waterways, led an interactive demonstration using the Enviroscape model. Students saw firsthand how things like soil, fertilizers, pesticides, vehicle fluids, and litter can be carried by rainwater into our rivers and streams and become something called non-point source pollution.
She also taught us about watersheds—the land areas that drain into a body of water—and how protecting them helps keep our lakes, rivers, and streams healthy. Some simple ways we can all help include:
*Avoid using fertilizers and pesticides right before it rains
*Maintain vehicles to prevent fluid leaks
*Don't litter!
*Respect riparian areas (plants along water edges)—they’re nature’s buffer zones!
*Be a water “conservationist” by taking shorter showers, not letting water run longer than necessary and generally being aware of how your actions impact your surroundings
Through this eye-opening lesson, students saw how classroom concepts in ecology connect to real-world responsibility. 🌍 Thank you to Ms. Cheryl and the Blue Thumb Program for empowering us to be better stewards of our environment!

🔦🎥Action!
Drama students performed for students at school last week as well as evening shows. 🌟

⭐️ Our leader! ⭐️

Earlier this semester, Team 7-2 Science (Nolte) students partnered with Health & Wellness (Taylor) students to conduct a school-wide trash audit—sorting and weighing recycling and lunch trash, and leading a student survey on waste habits. Our goal? To find out what we're doing well and how we can do even better with trash management at school.
Using the data we collected and the creative ideas that followed, a group of students helped write and submit a proposal for the EcoRise Student Innovation Grant—and we’re proud to announce that our project was fully funded! 🎉 We're planning to use the money to:
* Install clearly labeled recycling bins in the cafeteria
*Launch a student-led poster campaign to raise awareness
*Start small-scale composting to turn food waste into garden gold
This project gave students a real-world experience of applying science to solve problems, turning data into action, and seeing their ideas come to life. A shout-out to everyone involved, and huge thanks to Ecorise for funding our green initiative!

Final Pep Rally Post!!! Go Band, Cheer, & Pom!

Pep Rally Post # 4 features a fun game! 7th grade beat 8th grade, but teachers took overall champions! 👏🏼🙌
