Introducing the 2024-25 Site Teachers of the Year! These educators were selected by their peers at each JPS site because of the way they connect with students, mentor colleagues, innovate in their classrooms, and consistently demonstrate the mission, vision, and values of Jenks Public Schools. These ten individuals are relentless advocates for students and public education. Our community is so fortunate to have teachers like these (and many others), who inspire our next generation of leaders with their genuine care and passion for what they do. Please join us in congratulating them!

Did you know that a child's heart is roughly the size of their fist, while an adult's heart is about the size of two hands clasped together? This difference in size reflects the growth and development that occurs as we age. Despite their smaller size, children's hearts pump just as vigorously, supporting their energetic activities and overall health. Understanding these differences can help us appreciate the remarkable changes our bodies undergo throughout life!

February is recognized as Heart Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about heart health and the importance of cardiovascular wellness. This month encourages individuals to adopt healthy lifestyle choices, such as eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and managing stress, to protect their hearts. It’s also an opportunity to learn about risk factors for heart disease and to promote heart-healthy habits within our communities. Let’s take this time to prioritize our heart health and support those affected by heart conditions!

Over the last week, our Trojans have been thinking about others. During House Team activities, students wrote Valentine's for patients at the Children's Hospital and first responders, police and fire departments. We ended this week with class Valentine's parties.

Once again, JPS patrons have shown unwavering support of our students, staff, and our mission. JPS voters approved two separate bond propositions today totaling $19,600,000 by a margin of 81.4% to 18.6%. Jenks’ voters have now approved 61 of the past 62 bond issues for Jenks Public Schools. Your vote of confidence is deeply appreciated. These bond dollars will allow JPS to continue to provide exceptional resources, facilities, and opportunities to all students. Thank you, voters!

Polls are open right now and will stay open until 7 pm. Please go vote in the JPS Bond Election! Thank you!

What a fun time at our House Team assembly yesterday. Our first grade teachers donned inflatable costumes and played musical chairs. Mrs. Colvin secured the win for the Red Team.

The Blue House Team would like to thank all who generously donated food for the Jenks Community Food Bank. This donation will help stock their shelves and help those in our community. #proudtobeJSE

Thank you, Jenks Public Schools Foundation for providing this incredible opportunity of having the Discovery Lab Outreach come and do fun canister rockets with our second graders.

First graders went to the Jenks Planetarium to kick off our next science unit “Patterns in the Sky”! We enjoyed learning from Mr. Z about the sun, moon, Earth, and constellations.

During Ty’s morning rounds during House Team meeting, he was entertained by a first grader reading Dogman to him. Our Southeast Trojans love when Ty is at school.

Today our 3rd graders are having their Celebration of Learning, showcasing their Famous Oklahoman projects. Mrs. Kittelson's 3rd graders spent some time this morning with their 1st grade House Team buddies in Mrs. Gundy's class sharing their projects. This is a great opportunity for the students to practice presenting and to be attentive listeners.

The Kids on the Block puppet show is visited Southeast last week and today to teach into conflict resolution, safety, and standing up for yourself. Our students are having a great time learning these life skills. Thank you Kids on the Block for coming out to teach these valuable lessons!

Additionally, maintaining a strong immune system through a balanced diet, regular exercise, and adequate sleep can help your body fend off infections more effectively.
