As the buses pulled up yesterday, we were honored to celebrate our drivers for School Bus Driver Appreciation Day. They are the first and last point of contact for many of our students. We applaud all they do to build relationships and transport kids safely.

Monday meeting of the minds!♞ ♛
All year long students have been gathering before school on Monday mornings to play chess in the library. The library opens early just so they have a place to go. ♟️🖤 These kids have united over their common love of this ancient game. It’s a great way to start the day, and everyone knows that playing chess makes you smarter!

Parlez-vous Francis?
JMS has a middle school French exchange student visiting until April 19 from Institut Notre Dame de Meudon in Paris. Chloe came and spoke to Madame Baker's French I classes on Friday, April 12 to help them with their listening comprehension; she also practiced her English. JHS French students are currently in France on the exchange to Institut Notre Dame de Meudon.

On April 12th, the JMS Cheerleaders wrapped up their STUNT season by beating out Sand Springs, Choctaw, and Union to earn the title of Junior High STUNT Champs. Way to go, girls!

Vocal Music brag!!! 🎼🙌
On March 6th, 2024, ninety-four vocal music students attended OSSAA Choir Contest at Tulsa Union High School. This is an adjudicated performance where our students had to perform two songs, one accompanied (by Stacey Lehwald), and one a cappella. After the stage performance they had to sightread (receive a piece of music we've never seen before and perform it perfectly in less than five minutes of rehearsal time). Throughout this process, our students performed VERY well under pressure and received Superior Ratings on stage and in sightreading!🎉On top of that, we received an Outstanding Achievement Award for our scores!🏅Because of the months of hard-work they poured into this contest, we got to celebrate with them at Woodland Hills Mall for a celebratory lunch!
"Big thanks to Rachel Shade and Stacey Lehwald for their tremendous help in this process! This would not have been possible without the support you two provided!" --Mr. Brown
This is the first time Jenks Middle School has attended Choir Contest in nearly 20 years!

Congratulations!🥇Katherine Whittington, JMS 8th grader, was named outstanding performer of the year in Winter ColorGuard.
She is pictured with her Jenks ColorGuard coach.

Everyone loves a birthday! 🎂The students of team 7.5 spent all week planning a surprise birthday party for Language Arts teacher, Ms. Reiter! They baked and crafted and organized themselves and pulled off the most epic surprise! They were so proud of themselves and Ms. Reiter felt so special and appreciated on her big day!

Save the date, 8th grade families!

We couldn't let the week go by without honoring our 4 amazing assistant principals! Lenna Coffman, Ray Weis, Megan Jackson, and Jennifer Blackshare work tirelessly for JMS students and staff. We have a great crew!

Wishing Emily Johnson, JMS Library Media Specialist, and her two assistants, Janelle Shelton & Ashley Lyles a very happy National School Librarian Appreciation Day. This dream team of "library ladies" makes our library a truly special place.

Happy Paraprofessional Appreciation Day 2024!
We could not run JMS without our talented Paraprofessionals. They are often the unsung heroes of public education--supporting teachers, classes, and students. JMS is lucky to have 17 Paras helping JMS students succeed.

IT IS OFFICIAL!
The Jenks Public Schools Board of Education voted to approve Tuesday, May 28 as the last day of school for the 2023-24 school year. June 3 was the original last day of school on the instructional calendar. Because JPS used only one of the five weather days built into the instructional calendar on January 22, the last day of school for students is shifted from June 3 to May 28. Wednesday, May 29 will be a teacher workday at elementary, intermediate, and secondary sites.
