Today Mrs. Swift and Dr. Nolte's Advanced Science and Mrs. Swift's 2nd hour classes had the opportunity to hear from Jeffrey Fox, a horticulturist from Tulsa Botanic Garden. Students got to see photos of the Tulsa Botanic Garden over the seasons and learned about the variety of plants featured in the gardens. Tulsa Botanic Garden also donated some seeds for Mrs. Swift's Advanced Science class to grow in the greenhouse next year!

At JMS, every department focuses on continuous improvement. Our cafeteria recently started serving these healthy and fit yogurt parfaits for breakfast and a they are a hit!

This past Saturday (May 11th), our 7th Grade band students competed with Heartland Music Fest in Guthrie, and then enjoyed great weather the rest of the day at Frontier City. Students received superior ratings as well as the Outstanding Achievement Award. We are so proud of our students' hard work. Thank you to all the parents who chaperoned!

Thank you coaches for organizing a spirited spring pep rally today! We honored sports and clubs plus had a little fun. Parents, ask your kids who won the most competitions--7th grade, 8th grade, or teachers!

Our nurses are wrapping up the week with smiles on their faces and on their feet!

🌎Some lucky 7th graders got to experience an environmental science career talk and Watershed pollution demo with Ms. Candice Miller from the Oklahoma Blue Thumb program. JMS students in Dr. Nolte's and Mrs. Swift's 7th grade science classes learned about the importance of water conservation and the different ways they can help protect our streams. Go BLUE!

Yesterday, 7th grade Social Studies Teachers visited the Sanditen/Kaiser Holocaust Center at the Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art. It was such a special time, experiencing their powerful Holocaust exhibit and learning how better to practice "Tikkun Olam" - actions we can all take to repair a broken world.

Last Saturday (May 4th), the Jenks 8th Grade Bands traveled to Branson to participate in the Heartland Music Fest and enjoy a day at Silver Dollar City. Students performed very well, earning a sweepstakes trophy as well as a distinguished performance award. More importantly, they were respectful and responsible throughout the trip. We are proud of our Trojans!

Happy School Nurse's Day! Our JMS clinic is run by 3 amazing and caring women who help out students and staff--from bandaids and tummy aches to major medical conditions. They are rock stars and deserve to be honored for taking care of many of our 2000 JMS family members daily.

Jenks teachers are life-changers. Sure, they are preparing lessons and helping students understand concepts, but the job is so much more. They are encouragers, mentors, advocates, and listeners. They believe in your kids. What JPS teachers do for our community and our world cannot be understated or adequately summarized here. You know and understand the true significance of what these remarkable professionals have done for your child. Please join us in celebrating and appreciating our incredible educators, as well as our principals, counselors, paraprofessionals, bus drivers, child nutrition workers, and all support personnel, for answering the call every day and making a difference for the next generation.

Thank You JMS teachers for everything you do!
