IT IS OFFICIAL!
The Jenks Public Schools Board of Education voted to approve Tuesday, May 28 as the last day of school for the 2023-24 school year. June 3 was the original last day of school on the instructional calendar. Because JPS used only one of the five weather days built into the instructional calendar on January 22, the last day of school for students is shifted from June 3 to May 28. Wednesday, May 29 will be a teacher workday at elementary, intermediate, and secondary sites.

Registration for students returning to Jenks Public Schools in the 2024-25 school year is open now. If your student(s) are returning to JPS for 2024-25, please complete registration by May 31, 2024. IMPORTANT: Back to School Registration is ONLY for students returning to JPS for the 2024-25 school year. Thank a school counselor this week! We are so grateful to our incredible JPS counselors for all they do to enrich and enhance the educational experience for our students. These professionals are teaching character traits, tackling challenges alongside teachers and staff, and providing unmatched care and compassion for all students. Our schools wouldn't be the same without them! #NationalSchoolCounselingWeek

Exactly two weeks from today, you can play a part in shaping the future of Jenks Public Schools. Set that reminder in your phone now and go VOTE on Tuesday, February 13 in the JPS Bond Election. How will the bond dollars be used? Why does this matter for my student? How does this impact the District's finances? Great questions. Find those answers and a detailed list of bond items at jenksps.org.

On Tuesday this week, students in grades 9-12 worked with their principals to give their voice and input on our bell schedule for the 2025-26 school year. Students were asked to give attributes they would like to see in a bell schedule, rank the importance of the attributes, and give feedback to our larger process that our collective staffs have been working on.
We appreciate their time and input and exciting to plan with the students about the possibilities with the bell schedule!

This past June, we shared the incredible Vincent van Gogh's Starry Night-inspired mural, including familiar landmarks from Jenks- the First Oklahoma Bank headquarters and Lighthouse painted by now sophomore at Jenks High School, Karely Renteria-Esperanza. Today, Tom Bennett, a JHS graduate and President and CEO of First Oklahoma Bank, presented Karely with a certificate of appreciation and a $150 Youth Savings Account. This mural wouldn't have been created without the support and challenge from Karely's Jenks Freshman Academy art teachers and administration. Thank you, First Oklahoma Bank! Keep up the good work, Karely!

Award winning author of The Boy Who Carried Bricks, Alton Carter, visited with Ms. Foreman's students this morning. Alton's story inspired many JFA students and encouraged them to ask questions about his life and his book. Not only did he offer amazing advice, but he asked the students questions to provoke thoughts on how to live a happy and successful life. Thanks for stopping by, Alton!

To all the brave American heroes, thank you for your service and sacrifice. #VeteransDay 🇺🇸

Tim Landes, feature editor of Tulsa People Magazine, stopped by to chat with our JFA Trojans about the creative writing process and his journey in his profession. Students were engaged and asking the best questions! We love to see it!

Wasn't the first day of school yesterday? Enjoy your fall break, Trojans. We'll see you on Monday!
