This past June, we shared the incredible Vincent van Gogh's Starry Night-inspired mural, including familiar landmarks from Jenks- the First Oklahoma Bank headquarters and Lighthouse painted by now sophomore at Jenks High School, Karely Renteria-Esperanza. Today, Tom Bennett, a JHS graduate and President and CEO of First Oklahoma Bank, presented Karely with a certificate of appreciation and a $150 Youth Savings Account. This mural wouldn't have been created without the support and challenge from Karely's Jenks Freshman Academy art teachers and administration. Thank you, First Oklahoma Bank! Keep up the good work, Karely!

Award winning author of The Boy Who Carried Bricks, Alton Carter, visited with Ms. Foreman's students this morning. Alton's story inspired many JFA students and encouraged them to ask questions about his life and his book. Not only did he offer amazing advice, but he asked the students questions to provoke thoughts on how to live a happy and successful life. Thanks for stopping by, Alton!

To all the brave American heroes, thank you for your service and sacrifice. #VeteransDay 🇺🇸

Tim Landes, feature editor of Tulsa People Magazine, stopped by to chat with our JFA Trojans about the creative writing process and his journey in his profession. Students were engaged and asking the best questions! We love to see it!

Wasn't the first day of school yesterday? Enjoy your fall break, Trojans. We'll see you on Monday!

Dr. Butterfield's site visit at Jenks Freshman Academy gave us all the creative vibes! ✏️📓
This morning, we had the opportunity to step into Ms. Foreman's English class where students were implementing different writing processes. Dr. Butterfield, Principal Gray, and the students took a glance at different images of different people and jotted down how the person made them feel. Students later used those explanations to develop characters. Thank you, Ms. Foreman, for welcoming us into your classroom!
