Trojan Swim Welcomes New Head Coach

Pending Board of Education approval, Jenks Public Schools is recommending Mitchell Wagner as the next head swim coach at Jenks High School.  A native of Wichita, KS, Wagner graduated from Maize High School where he was an all-state swimmer.  Wagner accepted a scholarship to swim at the University of Minnesota before returning to Wichita where he graduated from Wichita State University.  Wagner has spent his entire coaching career at the Wichita Swim Club (WSC).  Hired in 2013 as an assistant swim coach, Wagner was named head coach in 2020.  Since 2020, the WSC has consistently finished in the top ten at the Region VIII Speedo Sectionals and in 2023, WSC was named a USA Swimming Bronze Medal Club.  Eight swimmers have qualified for Junior Nationals under Wagner; five swimmers have been named NISCA All-American and over thirty have gone to swim at the collegiate level.

Jenks Director of Athletics Clay Martin stated, "We're excited to welcome Mitchell to Jenks, America.  His experiences as a high-level swimmer and a high-level coach are going to help build on a very successful program full of great tradition.  His ability to connect with young people and establish trust are evident.  His work ethic and positive enthusiasm are contagious. This is a great day for Jenks Swimming!"
