Julie Wortham Named JPS' Classified Employee of the Year
Julie Wortham, Human Resources Specialist and Deputy Clerk of the Board was announced as the 2020-21 Jenks Public Schools’ Classified Employee of the Year at the JPS Board of Education meeting on Monday, April 12. Wortham was selected from a pool of 17 finalists representing each school site and department in the District.
“I am humbled to receive this award,” stated Wortham. “There are so many incredible employees in this District so to be chosen to represent my peers and colleagues is truly overwhelming. Our employees do amazing work every single day to serve our students and families, and I am so fortunate to play a small part in the mission of Jenks Public Schools.”
A native of Idabel, Oklahoma, Wortham was hired at JPS in 2009 and worked one year as an Administrative Assistant for Professional Development and Curriculum Instruction before transitioning to her current role in Human Resources.
“The HR department feels like family to me, and I sincerely love my job because I get to help our employees every single day,” Wortham commented. “I am a service-oriented person and I’m so happy to be able to answer questions and assist our staff members however I can. I always want employees to know our department is here to help and serve.”
Wortham manages information and contracts for approximately 800 certified employees across the District. Whether she is welcoming new hires, coordinating interviews, or helping staff members navigate leave and benefits, Wortham has been repeatedly recognized by her coworkers for her positive attitude and work ethic.
“Even though Jenks is a large district, it has the feel of a small town and that is just one of the many reasons I love working at JPS,” remarked Wortham. “I am so thankful for the opportunity to represent all of our classified employees. It is truly an honor.”
