Title IIA - Professional Learning
Title IIA is a federal program designed to support teachers, principals, and other school leaders during the course of their careers. Research shows that an effective teacher in each classroom is the most significant school-based factor affecting student achievement. In Jenks, Title IIA funds support professional development opportunities such as “think tanks” which allow educators from across the district to engage in deep study of instructional practices over time, site-based instructional coaching, induction programs for teachers new to Jenks, and workshops with outside experts.
The Professional Development Team, which is made up of representatives from each school site, meets annually in the spring semester with the District’s Teaching and Learning Department, the Teaching and Learning Specialists, and parents to develop professional development goals at the district and site levels and identify Title IIA activities for the upcoming school year.
