It is wonderful to be back at East Elementary again. I started my career with Jenks back in 1993 as a fourth grade teacher at East Elementary. After teaching, I shifted over into parent education with the Jenks Parent Care Center and the Parents as Teachers program for families in the district. I've been teaching parenting classes across the state with the Active Parenting curriculum and PPE curriculums as well as the Helping Children Cope With Divorce seminars for parents and the Rollercoasters curriculum to help children cope with family change. I also teach communication classes for parents and children across the state with the PREP curriculum.
I'm thrilled to now be on the great counselor team here at East Elementary. In addition to leading character guidance lessons for third and fourth grade classes, I'll be running multiple children's groups over many topics including helping children cope with change, friendship groups, stress management groups and anything that you need. Please contact me if you need any assistance for your child or family so that I can step in and help however needed. We will all work very hard to help your child find a place to belong, a place to trust and a place to be loved.
I am also the pround mother of four children, all of whom go to or graduated from Jenks. I guess you could say I love all things related to Jenks because I am also married to Senor Alvarez, the 4th, 5th and 6th grade Spanish teacher at East Elementary and East Intermediate.
Thank you for the privilege of working with your family and your children. Together we can truly make a difference.
