Welcome back to school! This is Jiang Laoshi’s Chinese class!
I am so excited to be your child’s homeroom teacher this year. Last year, I taught 6th Grade Chinese language, culture, and arts at Jenks West Intermediate School, and Fourth Grade Chinese Immersion at Jenks Southeast.
I come from Wuhu, China, a beautiful city near Shanghai. I was a graduate student at Yunnan University and studied Teaching Chinese as a Second Language. In addition, last May, I graduated from the Instructional Psychology and Technology master’s program at the University of Oklahoma.
My goals as a Chinese educator are to foster students’ understanding of Chinese language and culture, and to help them use Chinese for communication in "real life" situations. Making Chinese fun and accessible is one of my teaching philosophies as well. This is a relatively high-pressure program, so it is important to foster a positive experience and individual involvement. I also will focus every child individually and meet their needs; I want to help each of them achieve their own success.
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns I am looking forward to having a wonderful year with these kids.
PS: Please have your child bring a pair of clean socks at the first day of school, so that we can use them as whiteboard eraser cleaners.
