FIFTH GRADE ART

Fifth grade students enjoy a three-day rotation of art, music and P.E. Our art curriculum covers drawing, painting, color theory, art history, clay, cartooning, lettering and portrait basics.

SIXTH GRADE ART

Sixth grade students taking art and Spanish come to art for nine weeks and Spanish for nine weeks. Students taking art/Chinese do art projects with Ms. Pettus in Chinese class.

The 6th grade art curriculum covers three basic areas: drawing, painting and clay. Students paint with opaque and transparent paints and learn about color theory. Our clay project is a hand-built piece which is fired and glazed. In our drawing unit students learn perspective, quick sketching and shading techniques. We also learn about the elements and principles of art and art history as it relates to our projects.
