In 4th grade, our math series is Everyday Mathematics. This curriculum embraces many of the traditional goals of school mathematics.  This curriculum introduces students to all of the major mathematical content domains - number sense, algebra, measurement, geometry, data analysis, and probability.

I encourage you to practice with your child through daily applications with money, fractions, story problems, etc. Students will have homework if they do not finish their class work for the day.  In class the children will keep a math journal in which to record important or new concepts, and we play games involving our skills being studied.

Our goal is that every student masters their multiplication facts by memory.  We offer timed tests: 50 facts in 3 minutes

I also have the students practice their facts on the computer daily.  They should really have these memorized before they begin 5th grade.
