Students are required to read 120 minutes during the week.  They must document their reading on the green paper included in their agendas. Parent signatures are  required before they have their logs checked on Fridays. The signature acknowledges that the child has read the required amount of time for that week. A weekly grade will be given for independent reading.

Writing is an important part of our curriculum. We are practicing the basic skills necessary to write a complete sentence, paragraph, and a paper. Then we will write a personal narrative. We will also be writing expressive narratives,  how-to, persuasive, and expository papers. We pre-write, revise, edit, and publish our work throughout the year.  Our school has a strong emphasis on writing, and I think that my students have already found out that writing can be fun!
