Jenks Wild Recap
In what has become a 20+ year tradition, the entire sixth grade class of both East and West Intermediate left their every day schedules behind for a chance to go "Wild". Jenks Wild is a three-day environment camp that gives students a chance to learn in a setting outside the normal classroom.
This year, students, teachers, and a very brave group of parent volunteers traveled to New Life Ranch, near Colcord, Oklahoma. Though the camp offers comfy accommodations and a tranquil setting, this was no vacation. Students were in class everyday until 5 p.m., and covered all subjects while at camp.
In addition to their studies, those students who braved the "Wild" experience this year also learned how to make a fire, catch a fish, operate a canoe, and navigate while on a hike. The camp's ropes course also posed a challenge and helped the students test their courage and practice their teamwork skills.
