Patti Long, 4th grade
Welcome to Fourth Grade! I am so excited about this year. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Education from S.M.U. and a Master of Education from the University of Texas. I taught fifth graders in Texas before teaching at Jenks East Elementary. After taking some time to invest in my family, I returned to Jenks (at Southeast) in 1999 where I was a teacher/coordinator of Gifted Services, part-time. This marks my 6th year back in fourth grade, a total of fourteen years at Southeast. I am so grateful to be surrounded by the outstanding staff and supportive parents here.
One of my goals every year is for each student to end the year with a feeling of satisfaction for having done their best and feeling good about himself or herself. Each child is special to me, and I will work to differentiate lessons to meet their needs.
This summer I joined Ms. McClellan and Zeng Lao Shi in attending the CARLA Institute training on Language Immersion in Minneapolis. I learned so much for the instructors and colleagues there. I am looking forward to being a part of the Chinese Immersion Program at Southeast.
