Safe Homes
Jenks High School Student Assistance Program and Jenks High School PTAG are pleased to announce that the SAFE HOMES PARENTS NETWORK program will be offered to the parents/guardians of students in the 7th-12th grades for the 2010-2011 school year. To fill out a Safe Homes Form, click here.
What is SAFE HOME PARENTS NETWORK?
The SAFE HOMES PARENTS NETWORK provides a way for parents/guardians to talk to each other and unite in a clear NO-USE message to adolescents that “there will be NO USE of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, other drugs or violence” in their homes or on their property by youth. Parents will actively supervise social gatherings or parties of youth in their home or property. Parents will know where their children are, who they are with, what they are doing, and when they will be home. Parents are encouraged to discuss this important decision with their children and set clear guidelines for their children regarding this decision.
Parents will be given the opportunity to sign the SAFE HOMES Pledge and have their home identified in the PTAG Student Directory as a SAFE HOME. By signing the pledge, a parent/guardian will provide a positive parent support system and serve as a means of communication between parents. Parents working together provide unity and the consistency necessary to eliminate the pressures adolescents feel to use alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and
other drugs; and that their children are being supervised by a “responsible adult” when visiting another SAFE HOME.
