Parents with both 7th & 8th Grade students, should attend the Aug. 10th, 2011 date.
We have made several changes to our process that hopefully will shorten your time at the school. First, you have received your Continuing Enrollment and Health Information form as part of this mailing. Please make any corrections to the form, sign on the bottom, and bring this form with you to schedule pickup. There is also a second form asking a few questions relative to your child’s race and ethnicity. This is a new state and federal requirement for all public schools.
Schedule pickup will take place in the gymnasium. However, we would like all parents and students to enter through the main doors in the front of the building. We suggest that you park in the front or west (gym) ovals then walk around to the front. If you have your completed enrollment forms, the process will go much quicker. If you do not return your forms, you will be asked to complete another set before continuing on to schedule pickup. We will have staff members ready to collect your forms and provide you with a checklist for the remainder of the enrollment process. Please plan on visiting the following stations that will be set up in the gym:
- Schedule distribution (supply lists will be provided at this station based on your child’s team assignment)
- Fees / agenda - all students are required to purchase an agenda ($6) and ID card, lanyard, and cover ($2). Some elective fees may apply Art I/II ($15), Tech Engineering ($12), Drama ($5) and PE ($14 for uniform).
- Locker assignment (based on team location)
- Cafeteria accounts - you may place money on your child’s account or fill out applications for free/reduced meal program.
- Student ID cards – we will take your child’s photo at this time. ID cards will be given to students on first day of school. Extra ID’s can be ordered for $3 during this time.
- PE Uniforms - for students enrolled in PE during the year.
- Native American Education - for qualified students
- Transportation - information on bus routes and pickup/drop off times and locations.
- Yearbook Sales - you may preorder at this time for $30 and save $5.
- School store – student reps from our school store will be available to sell selected items.
The middle school PTA and other district organizations will also be set up to provide information about this year’s PTA fundraiser, membership and student directories, student activities, volunteer opportunities, and the Safe Homes program. The PTA will NOT be selling spirit wear this year; however, the Jenks Trojan Shop will be on hand to sell merchandise.
Jenks Middle School will gladly accept cash and/or personal checks for any of the costs associated with the enrollment process. Per district policy, your use of a personal check authorizes the school, if the check is returned unpaid, to represent your check electronically and collect a $15.00 service fee plus the original check amount.
Typically, the busiest time (and longest lines) will occur soon after opening the doors at 2:30 p.m. If you have the flexibility of arriving later in the afternoon, you will find the lines shorter and will be able to get through the process much quicker.
Students are also invited to set up their locker and locate their classrooms during this time. Middle School staff members, PTAG volunteers, and students from our Ambassador program will be available to assist by answering questions and giving directions as needed.
