Dress Code
A student’s appearance should not distract classmates from the important task of learning. Here are a few reminders about the middle school dress code that you need to keep in mind when selecting those “back-to-school” clothes. We appreciate your help!
- Short-shorts, bicycle, boxer, “sweat”, or nylon shorts of any athletic type are not permitted. Skirt, dress, and short hemlines should be no shorter than the tip of the longest finger with the hand hanging at the student’s side.
- Sleeveless blouses must cover at least two inches of each shoulder. The student’s torso, chest, or undergarments should not show at any time even while sitting, bending, or leaning.
- Safety and sanitation dictate that students wear appropriate footwear. No house shoes are allowed. Flip-flops are allowed at the middle school.
- Sweat pants, mesh shorts, midriffs, halters, low riders, tank tops, cut-offs, pajama pants, clothes with holes or tears and other similar attire are inappropriate school wear and will not be permitted.
- Clothing displaying disruptive or suggestive lettering and/or symbols is considered inappropriate and will not be permitted. Items advertising alcoholic beverages or drug and tobacco messages will not be permitted.
- Hats, hoods, scarves, bandanas, and sunglasses are not to be worn inside the building.
- Any gang-related behavior or clothing is prohibited; this includes, but is not limited to, “sagging”, bandanna, wearing gang/set colors, written symbols, or displaying of gestures that reflect gang affiliation.
