Herb received a bachelors degree in 1978 from Oklahoma State University in Health, Physical Education and Recreation. In 1989 Herb earned a Masters degree in Sports Medicine from the University of Virginia. Herb started his teaching career in 1978 at Enid High School and came to Jenks in 1994 from Ferrum College, Virginia. He teaches Athletic Medicine, Director of the Sports Medicine program and co-ordinates the Jenks Athletic Drug Testing program.
Herb was selected as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Northwest Oklahoma Coach of the Year in 1991 and in 1997 Herb was selected as an Oklahoma All-State Adult Athletic Trainer for the East All-State Athletic teams.
