Yuh-jen Lin immigrated to the United States from Taiwan in 2002. She majored in Industrial Engineering in college; she had special training and received her certificate for Teaching Chinese as a second language in Taiwan and America. She had taught Chinese at Tulsa Chinese Heritage School for twelve years and Tulsa Public Schools for three years. This is her sixth year in Jenks Public School. She currently teaches 5th and 6th grade World Language Chinese, 5th grade and 6th grade Exploratory Chinese.
She would like to introduce the beauty of the Chinese characters and the amazing Chinese culture to American students. The more she shares it with her students, the more she wants to emphasize the rich and colorful culture with them. She always includes projects and other activities- such as Chinese paper-cutting crafts, paper-folding, traditional folk songs, writing Chinese calligraphy using a tradition writing brush and preparing special food for Chinese festivals. Incorporating these activities into her teaching gives a greater understanding of the Chinese culture.
