5th Grade Language Arts and Social Studies Teacher
Teaching children has been my passion for as long as I can remember. In addition to the last thirteen years in which I have been a classroom teacher, nearly every job I have ever had has involved children and inspiring them to reach their potential. Throughout my time in the profession of education, I have worked in a variety of teaching positions, from a middle school language arts teacher in Las Vegas to a first grade beginning reading teacher in South Central. Los Angeles.
Although I have been living out-of-state for the past thirteeen years, I grew up in Tulsa. I obtained my Elementary Education degree from Oklahoma State University and later received a Master's of Arts degree in School Guidance Counseling. I had a great time exploring other cities, but Tulsa has always been home and I am very happy to be back here.
In my spare time, I love reading, running, and being active outdoors. I love running marathons and have a lifetime goal of running a marathon in every state. I have a lot more to do, but it has been a fun way to travel to interesting states I would otherwise never think to visit. I am a big sports fan and a typical weekend's activies will be scheduled around my teams' sports schedules.
I am excited about this school year and helping each of my students have a successful, fun fifth grade experience. Jenks East Intermediate is a wonderful school and I feel very fortunate to have joined this community.
