How to Qualify
- Any student will qualify who attains the 97th percentile or above on a nationally standardized test of intellectual ability. Jenks Public Schools uses the Cognitive Abilities Test to qualify our students, but we accept other full-scale intelligence tests as approved by the State Department of Oklahoma.
- Any student who attains an age-based percentile rank of 95 or 96 will be placed on the Gifted Identification Matrix. The matrix scores, along with achievement scores and parent and teacher checklists, will determine eligibility for gifted education services.
- Only scores on tests given within 3 years are deemed qualifying.
- A student may participate in JPS testing, using the Cognitive Abilities Test, in September or March. However, students may only take the group test one time per calendar year.
- Gifted testing dates will be posted in "Our Schools" publications as well as site newsletters.
- Testing registration forms will be available in the main office at all sites or online at the district web site.
- Test scores from other districts or private psychologists are accepted when they meet the district criteria.
