Welcome to Kindergarten!
We are excited to have your child in our Kindergarten program at Jenks East Elementary. Our goal is to provide a safe learning environment that meets the needs of each one of our students. Your child’s kindergarten year will be filled with enriching, hands-on learning experiences!
Kindergarten is a full day program from 8:50am to 3:30pm. Please be sure your child arrives at school on time. Students may not arrive earlier than 8:30am. Regular school attendance is mandatory. Prompt arrival is essential; our teachers have the students engaged in learning activities beginning at 8:50. It is very important that your child is present in order for us to provide the learning experiences they need to achieve academic and social success. Documentation of school absences is requested for doctor and dental visits. If your child is absent, please notify the office by calling 299-4415 ext. 5512.
The first few days of school are an exciting and busy time. In order to ensure your child’s safety and supervision while at school, please have him/her wear a nametag daily. This will only be needed for a couple of weeks. Teachers will be in the classroom to greet your child as they arrive each morning from 8:30-8:50. Jenks East Elementary staff will be on duty before and after school all year to provide supervision and assistance.
You are welcome to walk your child to class before 8:50; however, your student will soon have the routine down and will be able to find his/her classroom independently. If you do walk your student to class, you must sign in using the Lobby Guard school security system. You will need to bring an ID and allow for ample time to go through this process. Teachers will escort students to dismissal at the end of each day - bus oval, parent pick-up, or day care vans. If you pick your child up, please stay in your car in the pick-up line until your child is brought to your car by a staff member. If waiting inside the building, please be respectful that the school day is still in session; keeping the waiting area a quiet environment will be most appreciated. If you need to pick your child up before the instructional day is over, please report to the office. Punctuality in picking your child up at the end of the day is appreciated. Children who are late getting picked up at 3:30 will report to Building C.
You are an integral partner in your child’s educational process and we appreciate you being part of our team. Your child’s teacher will communicate with you about curriculum and your child’s progress on a regular basis through newsletters and conferences. The Kindergarten year will be full of growth and excitement for you and your child! Your support, communication, and cooperation are appreciated as we strive to offer your child a quality education. Please don’t hesitate to contact me with questions or concerns; I look forward to working with you and your Kindergartener!
