MLA Citation websites

If you use any information from a source (pictures, text, ideas from print or web sources) you MUST cite where you got the information.  Many of the following Citation web sites will help you with citing sources.  Remember, though, that sites like EasyBib may provide blank space for more information than you need to provide for a particular source.  PURDUE ONLINE WRITING LAB is an excellent source that shows examples of many types of sources.

Purdue Online Writing Lab is sponsored by Purdue University and offers excellent resources for writing, grammar, punctuation, as well as citing sources.

Williams College MLA Citation examples - a good source for parenthetical references and has works cited guide.

Test your knowledge of MLA citations with the CITATION GAME

EasyBib is a automatic bibliography and citation maker.  Once you get the necessary information from your source, you simply insert it and EasyBib creates the citation for you.  REMEMBER - EasyBib will ask for more information than you may need to provide depending on the type of source you are citing.  One book is different than a volume of books.  An online source is different than any of the others.

Understanding MLA citations is a good starting point and for review of citation formats.

MLA Reference Guide shows you the format for the various sources.

Citing Online Sources will help you understand what you need to look for when using the Web and citing web sites.  Web sites can be tricky, but this reference guide will help.

Parenthetical Citations are very important when writing a research paper. Parenthetical citations occur within the paper and tell what parts of the paper reference particular sources.

Citation Machine is another source in creating citations. REMEMBER, it may ask for more information than you need to provide for your type of citation.  EXAMPLE: a book with an author doesn't need editor or volume information.
