AIDS Prevention Education

Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome/AIDS prevention education will be provided in the spring for all 5th grade students.  AIDS education for 5th grade students is mandated by state law.

A school nurse will facilitate the AIDS instruction.  Prior to student teaching, a PARENT MEETING will be held.  Parents are encouraged to attend this meeting to get first hand knowledge of the materials to be discussed with their children.  The date for this presentation will be published in the JEI Gazette and placed on the Phone Master system with an alternate date in case of inclement weather.

Any parent wanting to EXEMPT their child from AIDS education MUST INFORM  the principal or assistant principal, teacher and nurse in writing each year.

Once classes have been scheduled for AIDS education students are asked to write this information in their agendas for Parent Notification.
