Gifted Services

Any student who attains the 97th percentile or above on Full Scale IQ, on a nationally standardized test of intellectual ability will qualify for Gifted Services. Any student who attains an age-based percentile rank of 95/96% will be automatically placed on the Gifted Identification Matrix by the Site Gifted Coordinator. Please note, students who score below the 95% may be put on a matrix at parent request.  The matrix scores, along with achievement test scores and parent and teacher checklists will determine eligibility for gifted education services and parents will be notified in writing regarding qualification. Only scores from tests given within 3 years are deemed qualifying.

A student may participate in JPS group testing, using the Cognitive Abilities Test, in September or March. Test scores from other districts or private psychologists are accepted when they meet the district criteria. Gifted testing dates are posted in “Our Schools” publication, and testing registration forms will be available in the main office at all sites or online at the district web site.
